The Successful Applicant
In order to qualify for this position applicants must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess one year of specialized experience in the safety and occupational health field equivalent to the GS05 grade level in Federal service that has equipped you with the particular knowledge skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: group leader in community or residential recreation or training programs counselor in a youth summer camp instructor in a training program for the development of job skills work that demonstrated the ability to be responsible for and to lead and train members of a job crew group activities leader in the Armed Services Unit leadermonitorproctor for a dormitory group in a boarding school or other residential facility aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff in such fields as personnel (private or government) employment guidance in a vocational or academic institution social service or manpower development aid or assistant to professional or associate staff engaged in work of a social services nature in private public welfare government program or community organizations or in voluntary activities or aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff working with individuals who are addicted to or abuse alcohol and/or drugs. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. OR EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Possess onehalf year of graduate education (usually 9 semester hours) that is directly related to the work of this position. One year of fulltime graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one year of fulltime study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the one year of fulltime study requirement. Parttime graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of fulltime study at the school attended. Transcripts required. OR COMBINATION: Possess an equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. Transcripts required and experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Communication Customer Service Organizational Awareness Team Building IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: The work involves the use of a computer cubicles/office space outpatient treatment rooms and group/conference rooms. The work involves walking to different workspaces within the clinic conveying a patient centered environment where providers go to the patient. The physical demands include presenting oneself in an energetic way to create positive attitudes about health and wellbeing for Veterans families VA employees and stakeholders. The position is responsible for participating in and facilitating groupbased and individual classes for Veteran patients and must be able to move from site to site to facilitate such classes.
