This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled in any of the job series listed below.GS0180 Counseling PsychologistGS0185 Social Worker Basic Requirement:GS018011: Counseling psychology: For positions at grades GS9 and above satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a masters degree directly related to counseling psychology is required. GS018511: Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the masters degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below. Specialized Experience Requirement:Select the one statement that best describes the education and/or experience that you possess that demonstrates your ability to perform the work of Social Worker/Counseling Psychologist at the GS09 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service. For the GS09: You must have:(a) One year specialized experience equivalent to the GS07 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as Assisting with coordinate mental health services conducting psychosocial assessments and treatment interventions to a wide variety of individuals from various socioeconomic cultural ethnic educational and other diversified backgrounds formulating treatment plan implementing different types treatment in working with individuals and groups who are experiencing a variety of psychiatric medical and social problems to achieve treatment goals.OR(b) Successfully completed two full years of progressively higherlevel graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. if related. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do the work.OR(c) A combination of the experience as described in A AND the education described in B. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
