The Successful Applicant

Basic Requirements: Applicants must meet at least one of the following Basic Requirements: A. Bachelors degree (or higher) with a major in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Transcript Required) OR B. Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Transcript Required and resume must demonstrate clear details of experience) OR C. Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Resume must demonstrate clear details of experience) AND in addition to meeting the Basic Requirement applicants must meet at least one of the following Minimum Qualification Requirements: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS9 grade level in the Federal service that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes developing and facilitating communitybased interventions for suicide prevention communicating effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences of internal and external stakeholders and utilizing knowledge of data collection and analysis to convey suicide prevention information to management and the public. (Resume(s) must clearly support the duties and experience required for this position. We will not make assumptions regarding experience.) OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Successfully completion of three years of progressively higherlevel graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. To be creditable education must major in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Only graduate level education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level (excess of 2 years of progressively higher graduate education) may be combined with experience. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Accountability Communications and Media Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Strategic Thinking IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary and does not require any special physical effort. Work will require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site. Employee may carry light items such as papers books and portable computer requirement or driving a motor vehicle relative to attendance at meetings. The work often requires long hours to meet project deadlines and to devise corrective action and solutions to unexpected technical and/or management crises resulting in sometimes highly stressful work situations.
