The Successful Applicant
To qualify for this position applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement 02/21/2024. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Noncitizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education Masters degree in social work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Grade Determinations GS12: Licensure Licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level. Experience Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. At least two years should be in an area of specialized social work practice. May have certification or other postmasters degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience. In addition the candidate must demonstrate the professional KSAs in the paragraph below. Demonstrated Knowledge Skills and Abilities: 1. Indepth knowledge of the program coordinated and demonstrated knowledge and ability to write policies procedures and/or practice guidelines for the program. 2. Knowledge and skill in management/administration which includes supervision consultation negotiation and monitoring. 3. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. 4. Ability to organize work set priorities meet multiple deadlines and evaluate assigned program area(s). 5. Ability to provide training orientation consultation and guidance within clinical specialization of practice. References: VA Handbook 5005/50 Part II Appendix G39 The full performance level of this vacancy is GS12. You may need to be boarded at that grade if not already a GS12 Social Worker. Physical Requirements: Light carrying (under 15 lbs) walking/standing (12 hrs per day) working with psychiatric patients with behavioral problems and/or with substance use disorders mental and emotional stability required.
