The Successful Applicant
In order to qualify you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Individual Occupational Requirements for 0185 series and Group Standard for Professional Scientific Positions. BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree: Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the masters degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Must provide transcripts. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS12 level which equipped the applicant with the knowledge skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of Social Worker. Examples of specialized experience Examples of specialized experience include: Thorough knowledge of AF/NGB and Mental Health Program goals objectives policies and regulations to effectively implement develop and improve psychological health programs targeting service members and their families. Thorough knowledge of program data and resources to effectively negotiate with management as well as outside agencies to accept and implement new policies and procedures that assess organizational effectiveness even when such changes will demand extensive changes from established procedures or professional practices. Thorough knowledge and principles clinical practices clinical assessments and techniques in assessing intervening and providing clinical services to service members and their families. Knowledge of domestic abuse to include dynamics domestic violence the cycle of violence and its impact on children who witness domestic abuse. Considerable knowledge of complex helping systems professions and organizations how they affect psychological wellbeing and the multiple uses of such systems professions and organization to deliver services. Knowledge of professional and organizations who deliver psychological health clinical treatment services. Knowledge skills and experience in the following areas: utilization of computer systems including word processing and data base management Program design and development Research and program analysis Training to include development and implementation of training programs and curricula. One year at the GS12 level is required to meet the timeingrade requirements for the GS13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet timeingrade requirements. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge skills abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Professional knowledge of Mental Health practices principles and theory for cases involving a wide range of psychosocial and environmental problems with impulsive behavior that may be selfdestructive or depredatory and provide training in these areas to other health care professionals. 2. Comprehensive and detailed knowledge and understanding of governing policies precedent setting decisions procedures program directives and public laws issued by Congress the Depart of Defense. and HQ USAF regarding a comprehensive ANG worldwide PHP. 3. Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring the effectiveness efficiency and productivity of Mental Health programs along with knowledge of the m Issi on organization and work processes throughout the worldwide programs and the relationship of support activities to such missions to develop sound recommendations. 4. Ability to gather assemble. and analyze facts draw conclusions conduct analysis devise recommended solutions and package the entire process in briefings papers or reports suitable for top I eve management use and decisionmaking. 5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and inwriting to gain cooperation from others through tact courtesy and diplomacy. 6. Knowledge and experience in working with cross functional teams both internally and externally to plan organize and direct multiyear strategic planning goal matrix and metrics to evaluate overall PHP goals and objectives. 7. Practical knowledge of the goals objectives work force composition work methods and functions or programs served which is sufficient to enable the incumbent to determine whether request for manpower and request for expenditures are proper necessary and timely. NGB suicide prevention experience is desired. 8. Knowledge of safety security EEO and personnel management regulations practices and procedures. PARTTIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or parttime work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
