The Successful Applicant
In order to qualify you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions Professional and Scientific Positions Social Work Series 0185 IOR BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the masters degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS12 or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Managing the development and coordination distribution and effective utilization of training materials participating in the development of action plans for suicide prevention Planning activities to assist with psychological health issues related to deployments for deploying personnel and their families Providing suicide prevention training Tracking suicide prevention data prepares reports and participates in writing narrative interpretations of analyses working with cross functional teams to meet organizational goals reviews updates interprets and implements policies encouraging the collaboration of programs efforts among key internal and external organizations. FEDERAL TIMEINGRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable timeingrade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS12 level is required to meet the timeingrade requirements for the GS13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet timeingrade requirements. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge skills abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Professional knowledge of Mental Health practices principles and theory for cases involving a wide range of psychosocial and environmental problems with impulsive behavior that may be selfdestructive or depredatory and provide training in these areas to other health care professionals. Knowledge of safety security EEO and personnel management regulations practices all procedures. Comprehensive and detailed knowledge and understanding of governing policies precedent setting decisions procedures program directives and public laws issued by Congress the Depart of Defense and HQ USAF regarding a comprehensive ANG worldwide PHP. Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring the effectiveness efficiency and productivity of Mental Health programs along with knowledge of the mission organization and work processes throughout the worldwide programs and the relationship of support activities to such missions to develop sound recommendations. Ability to gather assemble and analyze facts draw conclusions conduct analysis devise recommended solutions and package the entire process in briefings papers or reports suitable for top level management use and decisionmaking. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and inwriting to gain cooperation from others through tact courtesy and diplomacy. Knowledge and experience in working with cross functional teams both internally and externally to plan organize and direct multiyear strategic planning goal matrix and metrics to evaluate overall PHP goals and objectives. Practical knowledge of the goals objectives work force composition work methods and functions or programs served which is sufficient to enable the incumbent to determine whether request for man power and request for expenditures are proper necessary and timely. NGB suicide prevention experience is desired PARTTIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or parttime work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
