Provide course descriptions as necessary. This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled in any of the job series listed below. Basic Requirements for the Social Science series (0101): Bachelors Degree: behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences. Basic Requirements for the Economist series (0110): Degree: economics that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics accounting or calculus. OR Combination of education and experience courses equivalent to a major in economics as shown in A above plus appropriate experience or additional education. Experience in related fields that did not involve the use and understanding of economic principles and theories may not be used as qualifying experience for these positions. Evaluation of Experience for the 0110 series: Examples of qualifying experience include: individual economic research assignments requiring planning information assembly analysis and evaluation conclusions and report preparation supervisory or project coordination assignments involving a staff of professional economists and requiring the evaluation and interpretation of economic information or teaching assignments in a college or university that included both class instruction in economics subjects and one of the following (1) personal research that produced evidence of results (2) direction of graduate theses in economics or (3) service as a consultant or advisor on technical economics problems. Basic Requirements for the General Natural Resources Management and Biological Sciences series (0401): Bachelors Degree: biological sciences agriculture natural resource management chemistry or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major described above plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS15: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing 2 out of 3 of the following: Applying advanced knowledge of natural resource research practices and techniques such as leading strategic development conducting quality assurance and/or performing procedural oversight of a research work unit Preparing budget proposals to initiate direct or redirect projects and programs Providing technical leadership and program advice in the development and implementation of research direction science quality assurance and relevance standards and procedures for research and/or the core program of work direction. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity you must meet timeingrade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
