The Successful Applicant
To qualify for this position applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement 09/02/2024. TimeInGrade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade anytime in the past 52 weeks must also meet time in grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS11 level. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal Service. An SF50 that shows your time in grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF50 has an effective date within the past year it may not clearly demonstrate you possess oneyear time in grade as required by the announcement. In this instance you must provide additional SF50s that clearly demonstrate oneyear time in grade. Basic Requirements Education and Experience: Applicants must meet at least one of the basic requirements below: Successful completion of a four year degree from an accredited college or university. The degree must be in a behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provide applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrate the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Specialized Experience Requirement: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience include experience with: Office of Suicide Prevention and Veterans Crisis Line policies procedures and preferences reviewing and interpreting regulatory guidance related to crisis operations call centers or crisis hotline services providing technical guidance in the area of social science specifically regarding program policy goals plans and objectives organizing programs related to crisis hotline services and providing feedback and constructive criticism that promotes successful learning and behavioral change. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary although some slight physical effort may be required. Work Environment: Work is normally performed in an office setting. Travel may occur infrequently (25 or less).
