The Successful Applicant

Eligibility Requirements In order to be eligible for an appointment under the Pathways Recent Graduate Program you must meet the following requirements: You must be a recent graduate who has completed within the previous two years an associates bachelors masters professional doctorate vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution such as an accredited technical or vocational school a 2 or 4year college or university a graduate or professional school (e.g. law school medical school) or a postsecondary home school curriculum. Note: Certificate program is defined as postsecondary education in a qualifying educational institution equal to at least one academic year of fulltime study thats part of an accredited collegelevel technical trade vocational or business school curriculum. Veterans who were precluded from applying due to their military service obligation begin their 2year eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty however eligibility for these veterans cannot exceed 6 years from the date on which the degree or certificate was obtained. The date of release or discharge from active duty should be later than the date the degree or certificate was obtained. Qualification Requirements BASIC REQUIREMENT Applicants must meet either A B or C below to satisfy the basic requirement for Social Scientist. A: Degree: behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position OR B: Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field OR C: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. GS11 In addition to the basic education requirement as stated above applicants must meet one of the following to qualify for the GS11 level: Three (3 ) years of graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. degree in behavioral or social science or other directly related field of study or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in behavioral or social science or other directly related field of study. OR One (1) year of specialized experience at or equal to the next lower grade level in the Federal government (GS09). Examples of this experience may include but are not limited to: experience participating in surveybased research coding interviews and familiarity with qualitative data analysis software experience in moderating focus groups facilitating semistructured or structured interviews or listening sessions experience interacting with stakeholders drawn from federal state or local agencies and organizations or Graduatelevel research in social science human geography or a closely related interdisciplinary field in the context of water resources natural hazards climate change or emergency management. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.
