The Successful Applicant

To qualify for this position applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement 03/04/2024. TimeInGrade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet timeingrade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS11. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF50 that shows your timeingrade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF50 has an effective date within the past year it may not clearly demonstrate you possess oneyear timeingrade as required by the announcement. In this instance you must provide an additional SF50 that clearly demonstrates oneyear timeingrade. Basic Requirements Degree: behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. or Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. or Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: Knowledge and experience in the following: completing projects analyzing problems and recommending solutions to problems for support staff who provide suicide/mental health crisis prevention and intervention strategies appropriate support for contacts displaying disruptive behavior determining educational and training needs for assigned unit assigns work to subordinates and evaluates work performance providing technical and administrative direction to subordinates resulting efficient and effective accomplishment of work providing advice counsel/instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters interviewing for open positions hearing/resolving complaints from employees effecting minor disciplinary measures such as warning and reprimands approving/disapproving leave. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Organizational Awareness: Knows the organizations mission and functions and how its social political and technological systems work and operates effectively within them this includes the programs policies procedures rules and regulations of the organization Leadership: Inspires motivates and guides others toward goal accomplishment coaches mentors and challenges subordinates adapts leadership styles to a variety of situations models high standards of honesty integrity trust openness and respect for the individual by applying these values to daily behaviors. Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work sets priorities and determines resource requirements determines short or longterm goals and strategies to achieve them coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals monitors progress and evaluates outcomes. Manages and Organizes Information: Identifies a need gathers organizes and maintains information determines its importance and accuracy and communicates it by a variety of methods Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religions spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary. May require prolonged standing moderate walking and manual dexterity. May require carrying light items such as books files or laptop computer. Work requires extreme patience and controlling ones emotions.
