The Successful Applicant

BASIC REQUIREMENT: You MUST meet the Basic Requirements and the Minimum Qualifications to qualify for this Social Science Program Coordinator position. BASIC EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Four (4) years of appropriate experience in a position that demonstrates I have the acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: Your experience must be fully documented in your resume and must include job title duties month year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. OR BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Successfully completed a full four (4) year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelors degree or higher with a major study in behavioral science social science or related disciplines appropriate to this position. The number of semester hours required to constitute a major field of study is the amount specified by the college or university attended. If this number cannot be obtained 24 semester hours will be considered as equivalent to a major field of study. NOTE: Official/unofficial transcripts must be submitted with your application or your application will not be reviewed. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR COMBINATION OF BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience that included courses equivalent to a major in behavioral or social science or a subjectmatter field appropriate to this position plus appropriate experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a 4year course of study described above. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that you possess the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to perform work in this occupation. NOTE: If you qualify by a combination transcripts are required and your experience must be detailed in your resume. AND In addition to meeting the above requirements you must also meet one of the following minimum requirements. Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS9) in the Federal Service that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Social Science Program Coordinator Suicide Prevention Program. Qualifying specialized experience includes: communicating effectively with a diverse group of professional staff to provide information on suicide prevention activities providing suicide prevention training and utilizing suicide prevention multimedia campaigns. This experience must be shown in your resume or you will not receive credit. OR Education: Successfully completed 3 years of progressively higherlevel graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in the related field of the position to be filled. The education portion must include courses that demonstrate the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR Combination: Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond the first 2 years) and specialized experience as described above to meet total experience requirements. The education portion must include graduate courses that demonstrate the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do to the work of this position. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Communications Customer Service Organizational Awareness IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary and does not require any special physical effort. Work will require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site. Employee may carry light items such as papers books and portable computer requirement or driving a motor vehicle relative to attendance at meetings. The work often requires long hours to meet project deadlines and to devise corrective action and solutions to unexpected technical and/or management crises resulting in sometimes highly stressful work situations.
