The Successful Applicant

In order to qualify you must meet the basic requirement and specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions Professional and Scientific Positions. BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree: A Masters degree (or higher degree) in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. AND Selective Placement Factors: Must have the following minimum qualifications IAW DOD directive: (a) The highest licensure in a state or clinical licensure in good standing in a state that authorizes independent clinical practice. (b) Two years of experience working in the field of child abuse and domestic abuse. (c) Clinical privileges or credentialing in accordance with Service FAP headquarters policies. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes professional knowledge of social work and Family Advocacy Program management practices principles and theories to develop and implement comprehensive primary and secondary prevention programs that address effective programs to prevent or lessen the impact of a wide range of psychosocial and environmental problems such as sociopathic personalities and family groups who react to their circumstances with impulsive behavior that may be selfdestructive or depredatory provide training for other health care professionals and other installation/wing personnel on issues related to the promotion of psychological health manage and coordinate programs and enlist the aid of community organizations/agencies. Knowledge of wide range of social work/mental health systems and professional organizations how they positively or negatively affect individual and family welfare and the multiple ways these systems and organizations operate to deliver services. FEDERAL TIMEINGRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable timein173grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS11 level is required to meet the timeingrade requirements for the GS12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet timeingrade requirements. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge skills abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Professional knowledge of a variety of social services social work practices principles and theories including but not limited to clinical case work community outreach programs family and children protection services and family violence prevention theory and practice dynamics and indicators. 2. Knowledge of the organization management and administration of child and family prevention and outreach services. 3. Knowledge of complex helping systems professions and organizations how they affect child and family welfare and the multiple uses of such systems professions and organizations to deliver services. 4. Skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of their concerns and/or issues providing professional assistance to clients and determining appropriate referral services and/or options. 5. Ability to apply professional diagnostic skills to individuals and families and to plan and organize establish treatment plans set priorities and meet suspenses. 6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to work well with others in a team approach. PARTTIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or parttime work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
