The Successful Applicant
To qualify for this position applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement 02/17/2023.Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Noncitizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education: Masters degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the masters level. English language proficiency. Social Workers must be proficient in spoken and written English. Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements above at the GS12 level applicants must have one (1) full year of experience equivalent to the GS11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other postmasters degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience. In addition the candidate must demonstrate the professional KSAs at the GS12 level as listed below: Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation negotiation and monitoring. Knowledge and ability to write policies procedures and/or practice guidelines for the program. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. Skill in organizing work setting priorities meeting multiple deadlines and evaluating assigned program area(s). Ability to provide training orientation and guidance within clinical practice References: VA Handbook 5005 Part II Appendix G39 Social Worker available in the local Human Resources Office. The full performance level of this vacancy is GS12. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of GS12. Physical Requirements: Light lifting under 15 pounds Light carrying under 15 pounds Straight pulling (1 hour) pushing (1 hour) walking (2 hours) standing (2 hours) Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other Hearing (aid permitted) Working closely with others Working alone.
