Qualifications for Social Worker GS0185: Education Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) (including Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) Master of Social Service Administration (MSSA) Master of Social Service (MSS) Master of Social Administration (MSA) and Master of Social Welfare) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).Licensure You must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the advanced practice level which included an ASWB advanced generalist or clinical examination unless they are grandfathered by the state in which they are licensed to practice at the advanced level (except for licenses issued in California which administers its own clinical examination for advanced practice). May have certification or other postmasters training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience in a specialty. (Documentation required with your application). Experience Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. At least three years should be in an area of specialized social work practice. May have certification or other postmasters degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience.Advanced Practice Level. Advanced Practice Level is defined as the ability to provide independent and expert clinical psychosocial and case management services in a specialized area of practice to veterans who tend to have serious and severe crises may lack any familial and community support may be poor selfmonitors may frequently fail to comply with instructions and treatment or may have major deficits in coping skills and require continuing professional psychological support. Demonstrated Knowledge Skills and Abilities. In addition to the experience above the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: (a) Knowledge of social work research concerns health services research peer review processes and experience in the preparation of study proposals meeting the guidelines of various funding agencies. (b) Knowledge of the processes involved in formulating a research study from conceptualization of the research problem through the implementation analysis interpretation and reporting phases various types of needs assessments their purpose execution and interpretation to develop realistic goals and objectives. (c) Skill in the use of computer input and analysis of social science data including the use of statistical packages. (d) Knowledge of the principles of scientific reporting for publications in peer reviewed journals and for presentation at scientific and professional meetings. (e) Ability to function as principal investigator and as a team leader in conducting health services research communicate verbally and in writing with a wide variety of facility level clinical and administrative staff and communicate results in both verbal and written form. (f) Skill in communicating verbally and in writing with a wide variety of clinical and administrative staff on the VISN and national levels and to critically review and synthesize large amounts of information into cogent presentations. (g) Knowledge in preparing and managing research project budgets using VA guidelines in the management of funds monitoring and evaluating the appropriateness of research funding requests in coordination with national VHA fiscal and administrative requirements. Qualifications for Psychologist GS0180: Education Requirement You must have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS) or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed. The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed. OR have a doctoral degree in any area of psychology and in addition successfully completed a respecialization program meeting both of the following conditions: a) the respecialization program must be completed in an APA or a CPA accredited doctoral program and b) the specialty in which you were retrained is consistent with the assignment you are am applying for OR have a doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionallyaccredited institution with a dissertation primarily psychological in nature.Internship Requirement You must have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA or CPA at the time the program was completed and that is consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed OR New VHA psychology internship programs that are in the process of applying for APA accreditation are acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement provided that such programs were sanctioned by the VHA Central Office Program Director for Psychology and the VHA Office of Academic Affiliations at the time that the individual was an intern OR VHA facilities that offered fulltime oneyear predoctoral internships prior to PL 96151 (pre1979) are considered to be acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement OR Applicants who completed an internship that was not accredited by APA or CPA at the time the program was completed may be considered eligible for hire only if they are currently board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in a specialty area that is consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed. Licensure: Candidates must hold a full current and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia. Demonstrated Knowledge Skills and Abilities. In addition to the experience above the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: 1. Knowledge of and ability to apply appropriate scientific methods in the design and execution of basic and applied research. 2. Ability to coordinate work across multiple settings. 3.
