The Successful Applicant
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions. This qualification standard covers positions in the General Schedule that involve the performance of onegrade interval clerical and administrative support work. Due to the use of 120day rosters this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants need at least one year or within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement the specialized experience at the next lower grade GS06 level or equivalent in other federal pay systems. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include providing training programs and activities utilizing automated data processing systems preparing agendas for case management teams preparing reports. Experience with word processing software developing an education curriculum. and knowledge in the basic methods and techniques of counseling. FEDERAL TIMEINGRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable timeingrade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS06 level is required to meet the timeingrade requirements for the GS07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge skills abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Practical knowledge of Family Advocacy program requirements and procedures and basic methods and techniques of counseling. 2. Knowledge of word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual documents such as letters reports memos and form letters. 3. Practical knowledge in developing an education curriculum with learning objectives and outcomes. 4. Skill in tactfully interviewing clients coming to the FAP office. 5. Skill in typing a qualified typist is required. 6. Ability to work well with others in a team setting and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. PARTTIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or parttime work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
