QUALIFICATIONS To apply for this position you must have the following qualifications: English Language Proficiency In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position. AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Do you possess a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in major fields of study such as: social welfare sociology psychology public administration philosophy education anthropology history economics and/or English OR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS6) in the normal line of progression of the position and Two years of experience as a social welfare worker or social work assistant in a voluntary public social or health agency which must have included 1 year in a medical setting. Specialized experience is experience in a program of direct social welfare services that required the application of program policy and operations knowledge in providing social welfare services and/or assisting social workers. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS 6) in Federal Service that includes performing the following duties: Utilize general counseling techniques and crisis intervention to use in support of MSW social workers clinical work. Gather (social history) to identify needs of the problems/issues confronting the patient and recommendations regarding strengthbased approach to resolution. Document activities in the patients medical record in accordance with policies assisting with applications/paperwork forms (including but not limited to Advance Directive paperwork). Gather information handling details around case management/care coordination including patient benefits Medicaid applications assisted living facilities and contract nursing home placements. Assist with following up on the acquisition of documents reports or information needed for social work treatment. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Computer Skills Customer Service Manages and Organizes Information IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: The work is active and is performed in a clinical setting as well as in the community. The incumbent serves a Veteran population with complex needs. Normal safety precautions and practices are required to working in a healthcare environment. This position requires emotional ability to work effectively with multitasking and high volume of patient flow. Other demands include reaching bending stretching walking and carrying light loads of supplies. This position requires significant travel in a government vehicle and transporting Veterans in a government vehicle. The incumbent will be required to perform most (75) of their job duties in the community and will be required to utilize a GSA vehicle while performing such duties. The Social Services Representative Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician will successfully complete all facility requirements to drive a GSA Vehicle and transport Veterans. This includes all required physicals including a preemployment physical. In addition the incumbent will successfully complete all facility required TMS and other trainings to drive a GSA Vehicle and transport Veterans.
