Provide course descriptions as necessary. This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled in any of the job series listed below. Basic Requirement: For 0401: Degree: biological sciences agriculture natural resource management chemistry or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major as shown in A above plus appropriate experience or additional education. For 0101: Degree: behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. For 0110: Degree: economics that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics accounting or calculus. OR Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics as shown in A above plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS14: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as 3 or more of the following: Applied knowledge of natural resources research practices and techniques to convey information concerning scientific topics policies and programs to key publics with diverse levels of understanding of scientific disciplines programs and activities Initiated high priority special projects studies and initiatives that affect critical aspects of organizational programs Implemented natural resource programs and projects including programming budgeting and administering the organizations program of work and/or Provided advice briefings assistance and counsel to leadership on responding to the media and/or congressional staff on scientific topics and program activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity you must meet timeingrade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
