The Successful Applicant

To qualify for this position your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS010205: Your resume must demonstrate at least (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Providing physical and psychological care for clients in a residential treatment facility or related setting to prevent and treat social problems like substance abuse dysfunctional family traumarelated emotional disturbances etc. Knowledge of chemical dependency and cooccurring disorders is highly desirable. Prior experience in the following fields may be found qualifying: teachers aide paraprofessional social work assistant human services assistant behavioral health technician residential aide substance abuse technician nursing assistant or medical assistant. OR Completion of a full four (4) year course of study leading to a bachelors degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. OR Possess a combination of education and experience when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. (Note: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelors degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study or 60 semester hours beyond the second year is equivalent to l year of specialized experience. Determine total qualifying experience as a percentage of the year of specialized experience required at the GS5 level. Then determine education as a percentage of the education that meets the requirements for GS5. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for the GS5.) Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the TimeInGrade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. TimeInGrade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
