The Successful Applicant

Individual Occupational Requirements (Basic Requirements) Possess a Degree: behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR Possess a Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR Possess Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirements above you must also meet the Minimum Qualification Requirements below for this position. Minimum Qualification Requirements for GS7 Superior Academic Achievement at the GS7 level: (SAA) at the baccalaureate level in the coursework detailed above is fully qualifying. Applicants who wish to apply under this provision must submit proof from their educational institution that they meet one of the criteria listed below. To qualify for SAA applicants must have completed all the requirements for a bachelors degree in a behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position to be filled and meet one of the following: Rank in the upper onethird of your class in the college university or major subdivision. A gradepoint average of B (a GPA of 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all completed undergraduate courses or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. A grade point average of B (a GPA of 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all courses in your major field of study or those courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. Membership in a national honor society (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. OR Graduate Education: Possess at least one full year of graduate level study or possess a masters or higher degree in a behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position that provided the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do the work. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR Specialized Experience: Possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS5 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience is possessing of health coaching structure process and techniques identifying patient motivation for change developing and implementing treatment plans to reach goals and assessing progress to adjust plans as necessary. OR Combining Education and Experience: Possess a combination of successfully completed graduate education and experience as described above to meet total qualification requirements for the grade level. To be computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level then determining the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR Minimum Qualification Requirements for GS9 Specialized Experience: Possess at least one full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level of GS7 in Federal service. Specialized experience is possessing of health coaching structure process and techniques identifying patient motivation for change developing and implementing treatment plans to reach goals and assessing progress to adjust plans as necessary developing goals designed to improve health outcomes and providing health coaching for patients to reduce or eliminate highrisk behaviors. OR Graduate Education: Possess 2 years of progressively higherlevel graduate education leading to a masters degree or masters or equivalent graduate degree in a behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position that provided the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do the work. One year of fulltime graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of fulltime study. If that number cannot be obtained from the school 18 semester hours should be considered an academic year of graduate study. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR Combining Education and Experience: Possess a Combinations of successfully completed graduate level of education and specialized experience as both are stated above to meet total experience requirements. Only graduate level education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be combined with experience. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position. Preferred but not required the candidate already has the National Health Coaching Certification on NBHWC or have completed an approved NBHWC training program that would allow them to sit for the NBHWC proctored exam.
