This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled in any of the job series listed below: GS0180 Counseling Psychologist GS0185 Social Worker Basic Requirement:GS0180 Counseling PsychologistFor positions at grades GS09 and above satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a masters degree directly related to counseling psychology is required. GS0185 Social Work:Degree in social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for a masters degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below. Specialized Experience Requirement:For the GS09: You must have I one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS07 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Assisting with the administration and scoring of aptitude and interest tests interviewing students to obtain specific factual data or opinions on specific issues counseling students under close supervision.ORSuccessfully completed two full years of progressively higherlevel graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. if related. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do the work.ORa combination of the experience as described in A AND the education described in B. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
