The Successful Applicant

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual Individual Occupational Requirements for GS0187: Social Services Series). GS5: I have three (3) years of general experience one (1) year of which was equivalent to at least GS04 grade level. General Experience is work in a social services activity or other organization that required the ability to conduct interview to collect and analyze pertinent facts to provide needed information advice and practical assistance and to prepare clear concise personal histories and factual reports. OR EDUCATION: Four (4) years of successful completion of a full course of study leading to a bachelors degree. GS6: I have at least one (1) year of specialized experience or the equivalent comparable to at least the GS05 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Specialized experience is work experience that provided the knowledge of social welfare services program policy and operations to provide child welfare services to clients and/or assist social workers process client applications review referrals and service requests perform program automated data processing functions and provide records management. OR EDUCATION: Education is not a qualification requirement at this grade level. GS7: I have at least one (1) year of specialized experience or the equivalent comparable to at least the GS06 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Specialized experience is work that involved the provision of direct social welfare services managing a client caseload assisting social workers providing training and technical assistance to tribal contractors and application of program policy and federal regulations. OREDUCATION: One (1) full academic year of graduate education in social sciences (18 semester hours 27 quarter hours or equivalent). GS8: I have at least 1 year of specialized experience or the equivalent comparable to at least the GS7 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Specialized experience is work that involved interpreting and applying federal regulations in the Code of Federal Regulation and Bureaus guidelines to client cases policy letters and human behavior theory to provide specialized services handled a range of client cases using considerable independence but keeps supervisor informed of issues or problems proposes appropriate changes to service plan. (Your resume must support this experience.) OR EDUCATION: Education is not a qualification requirement at this grade level. GS9: I have at least 1 year of specialized experience or the equivalent comparable to at least the GS8 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Specialized experience is work that involved applying professional knowledge of the principles and practices of social work recommending direct services to individuals families and groups and educating or assisting with instruction training consultation or advice on social workrelated questions and services and maintaining a formalized case management system which documents the workflow of case services with individual case plans.
