The Successful Applicant
The incumbent functions as the Program Coordinator for the Columbia MO VAMCs Housing and Urban Development/VA Supported Housing (HUDVASH) Program. The HUDVASH Program is a collaborative program with local Public Housing Authorities to provide homeless Veterans with Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers and longterm community case management. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Noncitizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education: Have a masters degree in social worker from a school of social worker fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the masters degree level. Physical Requirements: See VA Directive and Handbook 5019. Preferred Experience: 5 years experience delivering direct homeless services. 3 years responsibility for program management meeting benchmarks monitoring performance metrics managing multiple sources of data identifying areas for improvement. Proven success in team building and staff training. Grade Determinations: Social Worker (Program Coordinator) GS018512 Experience/Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other postmasters degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstrated Knowledge Skills and Abilities. In addition to the experience above candidates must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation negotiation and monitoring. Knowledge and ability to write policies procedures and/or practice guidelines for the program. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. Skill in organizing work setting priorities meeting multiple deadlines and evaluating assigned program area(s). Ability to provide training orientation and guidance within clinical practice. Physical Requirements: The physical demands of this position involve active listening reading observing and evaluating verbal and nonverbal behavior walking speaking writing clinical notes using office equipment such as computers telephones fax photocopy machines. This position is primarily sedentary in nature.
