The Successful Applicant
Basic Requirement: You must meet one of the following three Individual Occupational Requirement options for this position. If/when using education to qualify whether fully or partially you MUST provide transcript(s) at the time of application that state(s) a degree was conferred in the appropriate field. A bachelors or higher degree that included a major field of study in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to this position. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR At least four (4) years of appropriate experience in a position that demonstrates you have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: Your experience must be fully documented in your resume and must include job title duties month year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. OR A combination of education and experience that provided you with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that you possess the knowledge skills and abilities required to perform work in the occupation and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4year course of study with a major in the appropriate field. In addition to courses in the major and related fields a typical college degree would have included courses that involved analysis writing critical thinking research etc. These courses would have provided you with skills and abilities sufficient to perform progressively more responsible work in the occupation. Therefore creditable experience should have demonstrated similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the work of the occupation. NOTE: Transcripts are required and your experience must be detailed in your resume. In addition to meeting one of the Basic Requirement above you must also meet one of the following minimum qualification requirements: Specialized Experience: You must possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in Federal Service (GS9) that has given you the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of a GS11 Social Science Program Coordinator. Specialized experience is experience that provided knowledge of principles techniques and practices of a whole health program to plan and perform a wide range of activities related to the planning development and implementation of a whole health program experience that provided knowledge of the principles techniques and practices of health education and health promotion to plan and perform a wide range of activities related to the development implementation and evaluation of a whole health program and experience that provided knowledge of skill in using a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness. OR Education Substitution: You may substitute specialized experience with education if you have a Ph.D or have successfully completed 3 years of progressively higherlevel graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. This education must have been obtained at an accredited college or university. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may also be qualifying if you have an equivalent combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience as described above which meets the total experience requirements for this grade level. NOTE: Your experience must be documented in your resume and transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Budget Administration Compliance Customer Service Project Management IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: While some of the work is sedentary including researching writing program planning and data analysis the position will have periods of extensive walking and movement throughout the healthcare system prolonged standing and transporting light to medium weight objects. The Employee Whole Health coordinator will also be required to travel between sites (CBOCs and outlying clinics) encompassed in the healthcare system.
