The Successful Applicant
You must meet at least of the one following basic Office of Personnel Management prescribed occupational series requirements (GS0101 GS0601) described in the following two questions. You do not need to meet the requirements for both occupational series. All education unless completed outside of the U.S. must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the education was completed. FOR THE GS101 SERIES: In order to qualify for this position in the GS101 Social Science Series you must: A. have a bachelors or graduate/higher level degree in the behavioral or social sciences or related disciplines appropriate to this position OR B. have a combination of education and experience that provided me with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field OR C. have four years of appropriate experience demonstrating that you have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. FOR THE GS601 SERIES: In order to qualify for this position in the GS601 General Medical and Healthcare Series you must have a bachelors or graduate/higher level degree with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this position. AND IN ADDITION in order to qualify at the GS12 level for either series you must have at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS11 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following types of tasks: 1.) Explaining biomedical and/or behavioral research findings for various audiences. 2.) Recommending policy and procedural updates to guide biomedical and/or behavioral research involving American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) populations or Tribes. 3.) Collaborating with American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities or Tribal stakeholders to develop/establish biomedical and/or behavioral health research plans. AND 4.) Evaluating biomedical and/or behavioral health research findings using qualitative and/or quantitative methods OR IN ADDITION in order to qualify at the GS13 level in either series you must have at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS12 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector by independently analyzing healthrelated (e.g. biomedical behavioral) research policies procedures or programs. This specialized experience includes responsibilities such as: 1.) Summarizing and explaining biomedical and/or behavioral health research findings to various audiences regarding American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) populations or Tribes. 2.) Developing policies or procedures to guide biomedical and/or behavioral research focused on American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) populations or Tribes. 3.) Collaborating with senior leaders (e.g. directors Tribal leaders senior scientists) to develop plans for conducting biomedical and/or behavioral health research with American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) populations or Tribes. 4.) Evaluating biomedical and/or behavioral health research findings using qualitative (e.g. content analysis) and/or quantitative (e.g. regression) methods. AND 5.) Designing and/or implementing strategies to improve the effectiveness of a biomedical and/or behavioral health research program involving American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) populations or Tribes.
