The Successful Applicant
To qualify for this position applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement 12/20/2021. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Noncitizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: Social workers must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005 Part II chapter 3 section A paragraph 3j this part. Education: Successful completion of masters degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. (Transcripts must be provided). Licensure: Must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the masters degree level. (License must be provided). Preferred Experience: Knowledge and experience in mental health services and Military Sexual Trauma. Grade Determinations:Social Worker (Program Coordinator) GS12 Experience and Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other postmasters degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstrated Knowledge Skills and Abilities. In addition to the experience above the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:(a) Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation negotiation and monitoring.(b) Knowledge and ability to write policies procedures and/or practice guidelines for the program.(c) Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program.(d) Skill in organizing work setting priorities meeting multiple deadlines and evaluating assigned program area(s).(e) Ability to provide training orientation and guidance within clinical practice. References: Handbook 5005/120 Part II Appendix G39 Social Worker Qualification Standards The full performance level of this vacancy is GS12. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically the employee sits comfortably to perform the work. However there may be some walking standing bending carrying of light items such as papers books small parts or driving an automobile etc. Must be able to read fine print and view a computer screen frequently use a computer/laptop keyboard and mouse speak and hear well enough to understand respond and communicate clearly in person and on the telephone possess independent body mobility sufficient to stand sit walk stoop bend reach twist and push to access the work environment workshop and a standard office environment manual dexterity and sufficient use of hands arms and shoulders to operate a keyboard and write ability to sit or walk for prolonged periods of time and lift or carry items weighing up to 40 pounds.
