The Successful Applicant

In order to qualify you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions Professional and Scientific Positions as well as the Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) for the Social Work Series 0185. INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the masters degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. NOTE: You must provide copies of official school transcripts. AND In addition to meeting the basic requirement above to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes professional knowledge of social work practices principles and theories to develop and implement comprehensive primary and secondary prevention programs that address effective programs to prevent or lessen the impact. of a wide range of psychosocial and environmental problems such as sociopath personalities and family groups who react to their circumstances with impulsive behavior that may be selfdestructive or depredatory provide training for other health care professionals and other installation personnel on issues related to the prevention of sexual assault interpersonal violence and family maltreatment coordinate programs and enlist the aid of community organizations. Comprehensive and thorough knowledge of laws regulations policies issues etc. relating to sexual assault victim advocacy other acts of interpersonal violence suicide and workplace violence combat/operational stress and postdeployment support to plan organize implement and carry out the components of an interpersonal violence prevention and response program and meet requirements for all other behavioral health prevention programs. FEDERAL TIMEINGRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable timein173grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS11 level is required to meet the timeingrade requirements for the GS12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet timeingrade requirements. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge skills abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Professional knowledge of social work practices principles and theories. Knowledge of laws regulations executive orders issues etc. relating to victim advocacy sexual assault and interpersonal violence and behavioral health support and services.2. Professional knowledge and experience in a wide range of social science and social work principles and concepts and practices relating to the prevention of and response to sexual assault acts of interpersonal and family violence suicide prevention combat/operational stress behavioral health assessment and diagnosis.3. Professional knowledge and experience of complex helping systems such as community mental health centers 183 and rape crisis centers outreach services professions organizations and their management and administration how they provide victim support the multiple uses of such systems professions and organizations to deliver services and he multiple facets of interpersonal violence dynamics/indicators prevention theory and practice.4. Skill in assessing program needs to accomplish goals and objectives evaluate program status and recommend and/or implement solutions for improvements. Ability to apply professional community organization skills related to the formulating of needs assessments development and marketing of prevention programs and applies professional diagnostic skills to individuals and families.5. Skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns/issues providing professional assistance to clients determining appropriate referral services/opinions and planning and implementing professional community organization strategies and initiatives.6. Ability to establish and maintain effective communication both orai1y and in writing and working relationships with organizations and individuals to identify establish modify and provide victim support assistance. PARTTIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or parttime work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
