The Successful Applicant
The position of Social Scientist falls under the 0101 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS11/12 you must meet TimeinGrade requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 01/29/2024. Basic Requirements Degree: behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: Applicants must submit all relevant transcripts that demonstrate you possess the required education to meet the Basic Qualifications. All transcripts (unofficial and official) must be in English to be acceptable. Minimum Qualifications: Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The specialized experience must demonstrate one year of fulltime work experience or the equivalent if parttime (for example an employee working 20 hours per week for a 12month period should be credited with 6 months of experience.) Experience may have been obtained in either the federal service or its equivalent with state or local government the private sector or nongovernmental organizations. GS11: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: assisting in collecting data using behavioral and social science principals and theories to evaluate labeling and advertising communication affecting consumer behavior related to tobacco and/or other regulated consumer products. OR Have 3 years of progressively higherlevel graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree directly related to the position. OR Have a combination of specialized experience and education as described above that when combined equal 100 of the total requirement. Only graduate level education in excess of two years of fulltime graduate level may be combined with experience. GS12: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: engaging in the design and development of behavioral and social science research on labeling and advertising communications and its effect on consumer behavior relating to tobacco and/or other regulated consumer products. All qualification requirements must be met by 11:59 pm (Eastern Time) on 01/29/2024.
