The Successful Applicant
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education as defined below. Basic Requirements: Degree: behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience: that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. AND In addition to the basic requirements above all applicants must also meet the following minimum qualification requirements: GS13 Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS13 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS12 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position specialized experience is experience analyzing data and conducting research on food security and food assistance program and serving as a lead author or coauthor on peerreviewed journal publications on food security food assistance program participation and its implications for food security and economic wellbeing or related topics in social science or publications by a federal statistical agency or nationally recognized independent research organization. GS14 Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS14 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS13 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position specialized experience is experience executing a full research program with multiple peerreview publications on food security food assistance program participation and its implications for food security and economic wellbeing or other related topics in social science leading teams of researchers in developing research questions analyzing data and conducting research that results in peerreviewed publications as the lead author presenting research findings in briefings to policymakers government officials or other stakeholder audiences and evidence of invitations to speak on the topic of food security at professional academic or other related settings. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
