Basic Requirements for Social Worker (Substance Abuse): Degree: Masters degree (or higher degree) in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized experience is defined as: in a Social Worker Substance Abuse environment which includes: 1) conducting clinical assessments of substance abuse patients 2) formulating behavioral health treatment plans and 3) providing professional counseling to substance abuse patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS11). Licensure: A current active valid unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently offered by a U.S. State District of Columbia commonwealth territory or jurisdiction is required. . You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Care Management Clinical Analysis Therapy and Counseling Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
