The Successful Applicant

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Service under the authority of Title 5 P.L. 114328 Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA) and is open to current onboard (Tenure 1 2 and 3) US Federal employees interested in helping the Department of the Army meet our mission requirements as a Social Worker. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. Recruitment / Relocation: Incentive MAY be authorized. ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. FLNG BUS Code 8888: This position is excluded and ineligible for labor organization representation. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Must have a masters degree in social work by a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Note: A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the masters degree in social work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS11 Must have 24 months of experience in clinical social work assignments. Completion of the Air Force Social Work Internship Program may be substituted for 12 months of the specialized experience requirement. This experience demonstrates particular competencies of knowledge skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Knowledge of social work theories principles techniques and resources. Must have specialized experience in professional social work that includes interviewing people to establish the nature and extent of their problems helping them workout plans for improving the situation providing assistance and services referring them to community resources and other organizations as indicated and assisting them to understand and modify their own patterns of behavior when appropriate. Except as stated above no other substitution of education for specialized experience is allowed. Note: A minimum of two (2) years within the past five (5) years in the independent practice of clinical social work is highly desired TEMPORARY PROMOTION For Title 5 selectees only: This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour). If a permanent employee in Title 5 excepted civil service accepts this position he/she will retain their permanent status AND return to their previous Title 5 position once the incumbent returns from military duty. If the military tour member who has reemployment rights to this position does not exercise his/her reemployment rights within 5 years the selected individual may remain in this position without further competition. INDEFINITE APPOINTMENTFor Current Title 32 selectees only: This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour). If an onboard individual employed in Title 32 excepted civil service accepts this position he/she will be converted to Title 5 and will receive an indefinite appointment (Tenure 3). If a ReductionInForce occurs and/or the military tour member exercises reemployment rights to this position the indefinite appointee will have no reemployment rights to any other position and may be separated. If the military tour member having reemployment rights to this position does not exercise his/her rights within 5 years this position may be converted to a permanent status without further competition. INDEFINITE APPOINTMENTState National Guard Members (Not Current T5 or T32 Onboard) This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour) and selectee will receive an indefinite appointment (Tenure 3).
