The Successful Applicant

Basic Entry Requirements: Degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates the acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to the basic entry requirements applicants must also meet the experience/education for specific grade levels as described below. For GS11: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS09 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: Offering advice about criminal and/or juvenile justice systems (law enforcement courts corrections) and/or crime and delinquency prevention. Utilizing the knowledge of the social and behavioral sciences to assist in modifying standard techniques processes and procedures as it relates to criminal and juvenile justice crime victimization and crime services and crime prevention. Develops recommendations and proposals as it relates to criminal and juvenile justice crime victimization and crime services and crime prevention. For GS11: Substitution of Education for Experience: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higherlevel graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. if related. For GS11: Combination of Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements. For GS12: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS11 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: Coordinating and providing technical advice about criminal and/or juvenile justice systems (law enforcement courts corrections) and/or crime and delinquency prevention. Utilizing the knowledge of the social and behavioral sciences to modify or adapt standard techniques processes and procedures as it relates to criminal and juvenile justice crime victimization and crime services and crime prevention. Utilizing social science knowledge sufficient to extract significant findings from quantitative and qualitative research and present findings to senior scientists. Performing a variety of analytical and evaluative procedures such as factfinding and task analysis to identify and obtain a variety of information relevant to ongoing actions related to criminal or juvenile justice crime victimization and crime victim services or related areas of practice. For GS13: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS12 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: Applying advanced social and behavioral science methods principles concepts practices standards and analytical techniques in order to perform a wide range of qualitative and quantitative tasks for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness in the major focus areas of criminal and juvenile justice crime victimization and crime victim services crime prevention. Conducting or assisting in specialized studies related to criminal or juvenile justice crime victimization and crime victim services or related areas of practice. Serving as an expert in criminal and/or juvenile justice systems (law enforcement courts corrections) and/or crime and delinquency prevention. Providing advice to Federal staff practitioners and researcher on the applications and legal implications of social and behavioral science to criminal or juvenile justice crime victimization and crime victim services or related areas of practice.
