The Successful Applicant

In order to qualify you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions Technical and Medical Support Positions Social Services Aid and Assistant Series 0186. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS06 (or higher) grade level or equivalent pay systems (may have been obtained in the federal service military or public sector) which includes knowledge of DoD AF and SNIAC/EFMP guidance procedures enrollment criteria Family Member Relocation Clearance procedures and Facility Determination Inquiries. Knowledge of laws and regulations related to confidentially of medical records documentation and patient information. Skill in effectively and tactfully interviewing clients needing SNIAC/EFMP services. Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Ability to brief individuals and groups using effective oral and written communication. OR EDUCATION: I have successfully completed one full academic year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is 100. NOTE: You must submit copies of transcript. FEDERAL TIMEINGRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable timeingrade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS06 level is required to meet the timeingrade requirements for the GS07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet timeingrade requirements. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge skills abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of FMRC and EFMPM requirements enrollment criteria procedures and Facility Determination Inquiries. 2. Skill in effectively and tactfully interviewing clients needing FMRC and EFMPM services and the ability to collect evaluate and disseminate information. Knowledge of basic medical terminology. 3. Must be able to work well with others in a team setting and to communicate effectively both orally and in Writing to establish and maintain effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy to interact with individuals families and program support representatives. 4. Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures to perform duties to include: maintaining office files/forms answering telephone ordering supplies distributing mail sending and answering electronic mail and correcting grammar spelling punctuation capitalization and format to accurately prepare and edit written documents and reports. A qualified typist is required. 5. Skill in using various computer software database spreadsheet word processing and network programs such as Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint. 6. Ability to plan organize work establish goals and objectives set priorities and meet suspenses. PARTTIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or parttime work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
