The Successful Applicant
To qualify for this position applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement 04/05/2024. TimeInGrade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet timeingrade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS5. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF50 that shows your timeingrade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF50 has an effective date within the past year it may not clearly demonstrate you possess oneyear timeingrade as required by the announcement. In this instance you must provide an additional SF50 that clearly demonstrates oneyear timeingrade. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: A selective placement factor is a particular qualification required in order to successfully perform the duties of the position which could not be learned readily during the normal period of orientation to the position. Applicants who do not meet it are ineligible for further consideration. The Selective Placement Factor required for this position is: experience interacting with research subjects that are part of research projects. Evidence of this selective placement factor must be found in your resume in order for you to be considered. INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Education Degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) or 2. Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) or 3. Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. GRADE DETERMINATION: If the Selective Placement Factor and Individual Occupational Requirements are met you may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS5) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: recruiting screening and managing research study participants interacting with psychiatric veteran patient populations and utilizing correct safety procedures for handling inappropriate behaviors (i.e. intoxication) gathering data for analysis and entering same into computerized data sets per established protocols and procedures. . OR Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have at least one year of graduate level education or an undergraduate degree with superior academic achievement (top 1/3 of class GPA 3.0 or higher or election to membership in a national scholastic honor society) in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to this position. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED EVIDENCE OF SAA REQUIRED IF APPLICABLE). You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Project Management Research SelfManagement Communications Data Management Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religions spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climatecontrolled office or research setting. Occasionally work may be conducted at other offices (e.g. affiliated universities or the office of program participating in research project).
