The Successful Applicant
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement02/07/2022unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position starting and ending dates of employment (month/year) and the resume must reflect full and/or parttime or total number of hours worked (i.e. work 40 hours a week rather than indicating fulltime). If parttime the hours must be annotated to be able to prorate the amount of qualified specialized experience. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To qualify for the Social Science Series 0101 you must possess at least one or all of the following basic requirements by close of the announcement: A degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position or a combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field or four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to the basic requirements to qualify for the position at the GS11 grade level applicants must possess at least one or all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include all of the following activities: (1) conducting social science information collections within the context of parks/protected areas and (2) demonstrated training and applications of related social science methods in conservation and park/protected area contexts. You must include hours per week worked. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. You must include transcripts. OR Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts. To qualify for the position at the GS12 grade level applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include all of the following activities: (1) experience working on information collections submissions specifically for the social sciences either as a project manager or in support of the project manager and (2) direct experience preparing and reviewing written social science information collections submissions technical/scientific results reports. You must include hours per week worked. There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS12 grade level. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. You must include months years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Parttime hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as varies. Experience listed as fulltime will be credited at 40 hours per week.
