The Successful Applicant

To qualify for this position your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. The Hiring Manager/Selecting Official may elect to utilize an available flexibility wherein applicants who are currently enrolled and expected to complete the required education within 9 months of applying may be deemed tentatively qualified. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the masters degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Masters degree with practicum: Applicants who complete all of the requirements for a masters degree in social work that included a practicum are eligible for GS9. In addition to the Basic Requirements you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS9: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS7 grade level in the Federal service. This experience may be obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Assist patients and their families in utilizing available community state and federal resources for improving their social physical and psychological health Report on patients who are involuntarily committed Serve as liaison between patient physician/clinic or other members of the team including community state and federal agencies Complete statistical and narrative reports on services provided Analyze health needs of patients to determine appropriate care needs treatments by analyzing patient health needs. OR 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a masters degree or masters or equivalent graduate degree. OR Combination of Graduate Education and Professional Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. GS11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS9 grade level in the Federal service. This experience may be obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Provide individual and family therapy to patients Provide diagnosis treatments consultations and referral services to psychiatric patients Develop treatment plans referrals and appropriate interventions for various crisis situations Adhere to hospital and department safety regulations. OR 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. OR Combination of Graduate Education and Professional Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. GS11 Selective Factor: The position at the full performance level (GS11) requires a knowledge that is acquired by having a current unrestricted license U.S. State license as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW) Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) or equivalent Masters of Social Work level licensing.
