The Successful Applicant
To qualify for this position applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement 01/04/2024. Internship Program: To be eligible applicants must be accepted for enrollment or currently enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma certificate etc.) in a qualifying educational institution on a full or halftime basis as defined by the institution in which you are enrolled. To qualify for a Pathways Internship as a GS07 You must have successfully completed one full academic year of graduatelevel education with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Or be eligible for Superior Academic Achievement with a bachelors degree. In order to be creditable under the Superior Academic Achievement provision it must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Class Standing You must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college university or major subdivision such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration based on completed courses OR (2) GradePoint Average (GPA) You must have a gradepoint average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (B or better) as recorded on your official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (B or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum OR (3) Honor Society Membership You may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/). AND Positive Education Requirement. Applicants must be enrolled in a masters degree (or higher) program in rehabilitation counseling rehabilitation services clinical rehabilitation counseling counseling psychology mental health counseling career counseling or social work from an accredited college or university. To verify your enrollment you must provide proof of current student status. Note: you must remain enrolled in the degree or certificate program to be eligible for this Internship. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts and/or verification of class standing for further verification.) You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Customer Service Interpersonal Skills Therapy and Counseling Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religions spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Program Completion and Conversion Interns may be converted to a permanent position (or in some limited circumstances to a term position lasting 14 years) within 120 days of successful completion of the program. To be eligible for conversion Interns must: Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program Complete their degree or certificate requirements Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted Meet agencyspecific requirements as specified in the Participants Agreement and Perform their job successfully. If converted to a permanent or term appointment the target position and Full performance level may change based on the need of the organization at the that time. Interns must meet the qualification requirements for the position to which converted. For conversion into a GS0101 Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Applicants must be enrolled in a masters degree (or higher) program in rehabilitation counseling rehabilitation services clinical rehabilitation counseling counseling psychology mental health counseling career counseling or social work from an accredited college or university.
