The Successful Applicant

To qualify for this position your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Specialized Experience for GS5 recognizing and responding appropriately to deviations from normal behavior identify problematic behaviors and reporting to treatment team serve as a group leader in community or residential recreation or training programs and/or perform as a counselor in a youth summer camp. Specialized Experience for GS6 providing client services in at least one of the fields such as psychology rehabilitation or social work including support for families ability to assist clients in identifying and obtaining available benefits and social and community services ability to assist social workers with developing organizing and conducting programs to prevent and resolve problems relevant to substance abuse human relationships rehabilitation or dependent care. Specialized Experience for GS7 planning and carrying out the successive steps and handling behavioral problems in accordance with instructions policies previous training or accepted practices within the interdisciplinary health care team interact with psychologists nurses social workers community resources residents and/or their families facilitate group activities recognize and respond appropriately to deviations from normal behavior provide nonprofessional counseling services including behavioral issues associated with substance use and mental health disorders in adolescents. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the TimeInGrade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. TimeInGrade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
