The Successful Applicant

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience if qualifying based on education your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Family Advocacy) Degree: Masters degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience applying a professional knowledge of social work practices principles theories and administrative requirements to be able to apply them in a clinical setting. Conduct a comprehensive risk assessment by interviewing and assessing victims offenders and family members. Compile data and information to present and determine an individualized treatment plan and family safety plan and perform crisis intervention and assist to provide protection and safety for victims. Apply knowledge of administration scoring and interpretation of select psychosocial measures to properly assess patients and familys needs. Experience applying an understanding of behavioral risk management and ability to engage appropriate protections as needed when risk of harm to self or others is present. Providing guidance and consultation services to medical professionals and military leaders and facilitate referrals to military or community based human service agencies and resources. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS11).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires 2 years of experience working in the field of child abuse and domestic abuse. Basic Life Support (BLS): this position requires BLS certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). A copy must be uploaded as part of your application package. Licensure: A current active valid unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently offered by a U.S. State District of Columbia commonwealth territory or jurisdiction. Time in Grade: Time in grade does not apply because this is a DoD DHA solicitation and subsequent appointments result in a new federal civil service appointment.
