In order to qualify you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions Social Science Series positions located here or Social Work Series located here. Selective Placement Factors: Must have the following minimum qualifications IAW DOD directive: 1a. Must possess a current unrestricted license to practice clinical social work (LCSW) independently in any one of the 50 states the District of Columbia Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands. 1b. Must possess a current unrestricted license to practice marriage and family therapy independently in any one of the 50 states the District of Columbia Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands. 2. Two years of experience working in the field of child abuse and domestic abuse. Practice will require clinical privileges at the host MTF. Must maintain independent active clinical privileges for the duration of employment. Must sustain current competency to practice at the independent level. 3. Must have actively practiced as an independent Licensed Clinical Social Worker or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist within the past two years. 4. Government civilian providers must meet all applicable credentialing requirements IAW military treatment facility guidelines and be fully qualified to perform within the scope of their practice. Knowledge Skills and Abilities: 1. Professional knowledge of a variety of social services social work or marriage and family therapy practices principles and theories including but not limited to clinical case work community outreach programs family and children protection services and family violence prevention theory and practice dynamics and indicators. 2. Knowledge of the organization management and administration of child and family prevention and outreach services. 3. Knowledge of complex helping systems professions and organizations how they affect child and family welfare and the multiple uses of such systems professions and organizations to deliver services. 4. Skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of their concerns and/or issues providing professional assistance to clients and determining appropriate referral services and/or options. 5. Ability to apply professional diagnostic skills to individuals and families and to plan and organize establish treatment plans set priorities and meet suspenses. Position specific skills and experience desired in a potential candidate: Knowledge of dynamics and diagnostic skills necessary for family violence identification risk assessment and safety planning. Must have experience as a group therapy facilitator or coleader. Experience in coordinating services for families and monitoring client participation and progress utilizing the modalities of social casework psychotherapy and psychoeducational interventions. Ability to effectively interview and clinically respond to the needs of clients including assessing suicide homicide and substance abuse. Knowledge of the specific demands of the military lifestyle such as frequent separations and high stress working environments that have an extensive impact on individuals and their families preferred. Ability to communicate in writing to develop and prepare case management documentation safety plans psychosocial assessments treatment plans correspondence and reports.
