The Successful Applicant

To qualify for this position applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement 05/20/2024. TimeInGrade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet timeingrade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS06. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF50 that shows your timeingrade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF50 has an effective date within the past year it may not clearly demonstrate you possess oneyear timeingrade as required by the announcement. In this instance you must provide an additional SF50 that clearly demonstrates oneyear timeingrade. Note: TimeInGrade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Individual Occupational Requirements Specialized Experience Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Group leader in community or residential recreation or training programs. Counselor in a youth summer camp. Instructor in a training program for the development of job skills. Work that demonstrated the ability to be responsible for and to lead and train members of a job crew. Group activities leader in the Armed Services. Unit leadermonitorproctor for a dormitory group in a boarding school or other residential facility. Aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff in such fields as personnel (private or government) employment guidance in a vocational or academic institution social service or manpower development. Aid or assistant to professional or associate staff engaged in work of a social services nature in private public welfare government program or community organizations or in voluntary activities. Aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff working with individuals who are addicted to or abuse alcohol and/or drugs. AND Drivers License Requirement: A current valid stateissued Drivers License is required for this position. In addition to the IOR and the Drivers License requirement you must qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: Knowledge of housing rules regulations policies and available programs such as Section 8 and various voucher programs. Ability to interact professionally and effectively with a wide range of people of varying backgrounds professional levels and education. Knowledge of computer use including word processing spreadsheets databases etc. is required. (This experience must be well documented in your resume or application package.) OR Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed one full year of graduate education of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a major field of study related to the work of the position which provided the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position. You must I have less than the full amount of experience as described in A and I have less than the full amount of education as described in B. But have a combination of experience as described in A and education above the high school level as described in B above. Note: To combine education and experience first determine how much of the qualifying experience and education you have as a percentage of what is required for each. Add the percentages together and if the total is 100 or more then the combined education and experience is qualifying for the position. EXAMPLE: To compute the percentage divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond the first 18 semester hours (i.e. beyond the first year) by 18. Add the two percentages together. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Communications Planning and Evaluating Veteran and Customer Focus Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religions spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: In carrying out responsibilities operation of a motor vehicle is required. The incumbent travels into the community where he/she assists the Veteran with obtaining housing. The incumbent must possess a current drivers license and drive a government vehicle in carrying out professional duties. The position may entail lifting of no more than 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Whenever possible carts and dollies will be utilized as an alternative to lifting.
