The Successful Applicant

In order to qualify you must meet the specialized experience or education requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions Professional and Scientific Positions. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: DEGREE: Social Work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the masters degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Note: You Must submit copies of your transcripts. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS11 (or higher) grade level or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Comprehensive and thorough knowledge of laws regulations policies issues etc. relating to sexual assault victim advocacy other acts of interpersonal violence suicide and workplace violence combat/operational stress and postdeployment support to plan organize implement and carry out the components of an interpersonal violence prevention and response program. Thorough knowledge of a wide range of practices and procedures associated with victim advocacy social services delivery systems and other elements of specialized social service programs and behavioral or social science principles to direct the activities of the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program at an Air Force Reserve Command installation. Thorough knowledge of a wide array of problems and disorders of individuals families and children and the varied resources needed to treat them. Thorough knowledge of laws regulations and practices relating to privacy of information including HIPPA. Ability to advise program officials including the installations top leadership and installation personnel on the policies practices procedures issues and concerns associated with sexual assault and other acts of interpersonal violence and prevention response and victim advocacy. Knowledge and experience in the organization management and administration of individual child and family support services to participate in program planning and in the development and maintenance of public understanding and sound working relationships with local and community agencies. Knowledge and experience to assess intervenes and provide therapeutic intervention and oneonone assistance to individuals under difficult circumstances using sensitivity tact and caring. Ability to coordinate train inform motivate and evaluate victim advocate volunteers. Ability to directly apply professional diagnostic skills to individuals. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. FEDERAL TIMEINGRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable timeingrade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS11 level is required to meet the timeingrade requirements for the GS12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet timeingrade requirements. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge skills abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: I. Professional knowledge of social work practices principles and theories. Knowledge of laws regulations executive orders issues etc relating to victim advocacy sexual assault behavioral health support and services. Knowledge of laws regulations and interpersonal violence and behavioral health support and services. 2. Professional knowledge and experience in a wide range of social science and social work principles and concepts and practices relating to the prevention of and response to sexual assault acts of interpersonal and family violence suicide prevention combat/operational stress behavioral health assessment and diagnosis. 3. Professional knowledge and experience of complex helping systems such as community mental health centers and rape crisis centers outreach services professions organizations and their management and administration how they provide victim support the multiple uses of such systems professions and organizations to deliver services and he multiple facets of interpersonal violence dynamics/indicators prevention theory and practice. 4. Skill in assessing program needs to accomplish goals and objectives evaluate program status and recommend and/or implement solutions for improvements. Ability to apply professional community organization skills related to the formulating of needs assessments development and marketing of prevention programs and applies professional diagnostic skills to individuals and families. 5. Skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns/issues providing professional assistance to clients determining appropriate referral services/opinions and planning and implementing professional community organization strategies and initiatives. 6. Ability to establish and maintain effective communication both orally and in writing and working relationships with organizations and individuals to identify establish modify and provide victim support assistance. PARTTIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or parttime work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
