The Successful Applicant

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Noncitizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in major fields of study such as: social welfare sociology psychology public administration philosophy education anthropology history economics and/or English. Grade Determinations: GS7: One year of experience as a social welfare worker or social work assistant in a voluntary public social or health agency. Qualifying Experience: Must have been of a quality and scope to enable applicants to perform assignments typical of the grade level for which considered. For GS7/8 applicants must have had 1 year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower grade in the Federal service. Drivers License Requirement: A drivers license in the State or Territory in which assigned may be required. If required candidates must pass a Federal service driving test. References: VA HANDBOOK 5005 PART II APPENDIX F10 The full performance level of this vacancy is GS7. Physical Requirements: Applicants must be physically and mentally able to efficiently perform the essential functions of the position without hazard to themselves or others. Depending on the essential duties of a specific position usable vision color vision hearing or speech may be required.
